It can be confusing to know what steps you need to take when travelling to a new country and which documents you need in order for your visa application to go through. We have listed the process for three countries, Ireland, Slovakia and Poland, because it is very similar for each of these countries.

Visa Requirements
If you are a citizen of New Zealand, you may be considering visiting one of the countries below. However, first you’ll need to obtain a visa. Here’s what you need to know about the process.
Ireland: New Zealand citizens must have a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the planned period of stay in Ireland. You will also need a visa application form and two passport-sized photos. The fee for a Irish visa is €60 (about $75). NZETA QUESTIONS
Slovakia: To visit Slovakia, New Zealand citizens must have a valid passport that is not less than six months beyond the planned period of stay and must present an onward/return ticket. You will also need to apply for a visa at the embassy or consulate of Slovakia in your country of residence. The fee for a Slovakian visa is €30 (about $40).
Poland: To visit Poland, New Zealand citizens must have a valid passport that is not less than six months beyond the planned period of stay and must present an onward/return ticket. You will also need to apply for a visa at the embassy or consulate of Poland in your country of residence. The fee for a Polish visa is €30 (about $40).
Getting a Visas
If you are a citizen of one of the following countries, you can apply for a visa to enter Ireland, Slovakia, or Poland:
Australia
Canada
New Zealand
United States of America
To apply for a visa, you will need to provide your passport information and other documents that prove your identity and citizenship. You will also need to pay a fee. Once you have submitted all of the required documents and payment, the visa application process may take up to two months. If you are granted a visa, be sure to bring along valid travel documentation (a passport, airline ticket, etc.) when traveling to your destination country.
How to Apply for a Visa
If you are a citizen of New Zealand, you may be able to apply for a visa to visit these countries. Slovakia and Poland require an invitation from the government, while Ireland is a visa-free country for all citizens.
To apply for a visa to any of these countries, you will need to provide your passport information and make an appointment with the Embassy or Consulate. Be sure to bring all of the following documents with you to the appointment: your passport, plane ticket, invitation letter from the government of the country you are visiting, proof of residence (a utility bill, bank statement, lease agreement), and your passport photo.
After completing the application process and providing additional documentation as needed (e.g., if you are applying for a Polish visa), your application will be processed and a decision made about whether or not you will be granted entry into the country. If approved, a visa will be sent to you via mail.
Applying for a Working Holiday Visa
If you are a New Zealand citizen and want to take up a working holiday visa in one of the countries listed below, you will first need to apply for a travel visa. The application process can vary depending on the country, but generally you will need to provide your passport details, an itinerary of where you will be travelling, evidence that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay, and a letter from your employer or organisation confirming that you will be absent from work. Once your travel visa has been approved, you will then need to apply for a working holiday visa. This will usually require providing additional documentation such as an employment certificate or letter from your employer confirming that you will be working during your holiday. Once this has been submitted, you should receive notification from the relevant embassy or consulate about how to pick up your visa.
Other Options: Student and Tourist Visas
If you are a citizen of New Zealand, you may need to obtain a student or tourist visa to visit the countries listed below. The visa requirements for each country will vary, but generally all you need is an approved passport and some proof of your education or travel plans.
Ireland: Citizens of New Zealand do not need a visa to visit Ireland for up to 90 days. However, if you are staying longer than 90 days, you will need to apply for a residency permit.
Slovakia: Citizens of New Zealand do not need a visa to visit Slovakia for up to 90 days. However, if you are staying longer than 90 days, you will need to apply for a residency permit.
Poland: Citizens of New Zealand do not need a visa to visit Poland for up to 30 days. However, if you are staying longer than 30 days, you will need to apply for a residency permit.
